9 years ago, people!

as some of you may remember,
on the 30th day of May in the year of our lord 1999,
i did one of the smartest, coolest things EVER in the history of me.

being married to this dude is easy peasy.
actually, what’s hard for me is
me.
strangely, he doesn’t seem to feel that way at all.
can you even imagine?

hey, james! thanks for marrying me.

Next year to celebrate your tenth can we return to the scene of the crime? I could use a dose or two of some good hard laughter, blue pearls, and key lime pie. Love you both. XOXO.

That time in Florida was magic, hanging out in that cool big old house, with Fonda's clan,my belly hurt from so much laughter. It was summer camp for older kids! and who could forget that big room where the girls got there toes lacquered up by the x prison manicurist that smoked while they painted and never stopped to ash. Oh god & the Georgia gator canoe trip, stopping for road side peaches. Water the color of tabaco juice,Sugar Bushes boat, gette'n slammed by a gator I thought for sure they were goe'n over. James & Fonda you're wedding rocked in the best laid back way ! ! !

Yeah. Yes- course. We'll be there. But...I might need a reminder, at some point. I always remember how at my (re)wedding I said, "Hey, lets take a walk on the beach." and you said, "Yeah, sure...I would love to if only I had a wheelchair."

That wind blown wedding of James and Fonda, lord
what a blur of pictures in my brain. Remember the All Fathers' oyster bash, and clump dancing, and the girls' dormitory where we threw all the mattresses in a circle and Kate told us that on occasion the alligators really did crash through screened in porches like ours. And who was in the car that night when Kate talked her way into one of the gated communities by bellowing "My BAYY-BEE!! My baby's in there, mister, you just gotta let us in, I tell you, you just gotta!" Was that you, Jean, and Patty. I can't remember, because we were all hiding under the seats. And then the convoy Target runs. James's tears of love. Georgia peaches in the trunk. Learning to pee in chorus standing up. Fonda's white towels and nail salon. All that food. So many many heartbeats. Happy happy anniversary, Fonda and James. Your wedding lasted five days, so your anniversary ought to, too.
I love you, Bird
